HOW IT WORKS

The whole game, laid out on one page. No fine print, no hidden rules.

Anatomy of a case
Four screens
  1. The evidence locker. Every case opens with 6 exhibits — documents, messages, records. Review at least 4 of 6 before the accusation unlocks. Every tell you need is in there; nothing is withheld.
  2. The suspects. Three people, each with three interview questions on the record. Their answers are fixed — read them carefully, because someone is shading the truth.
  3. The accusation. Three questions, one point each: what happened, who did it, and the safest move. Record your confidence (1–5) before the reveal — it doesn't change your score, but honest detectives track it.
  4. The verdict. Scored out of 3, with a line-by-line breakdown of where you were right and where the trail went cold. A perfect 3/3 stamps the file Case Closed · Clean Solve.
Scoring

Simple and fixed. Three questions per case, one point each — 3 points per case. The verdict screen walks you through every question: +1 for a correct call, +0 for a miss, with the reason why. No partial credit, no trick questions.

Replay any case as often as you like. Your best score per case is kept — replays can't farm XP, and a bad replay can't erase your best solve.

XP and detective ranks

XP is earned two ways:

The formula
  1. Case points × 10. Each of your best case scores earns 10 XP per point. Improving a best score banks only the difference — replaying a 2/3 into a 3/3 earns +10 XP, not +30.
  2. Daily reveals × 5. Revealing the answer on today's Daily Dossier earns +5 XP, once per day.

Your total XP sets your rank. There are 8 of them:

Rank ladder

ROOKIE → LEGEND

Rookie — 0 XP
Beat Cop — 20 XP
Gumshoe — 50 XP
Investigator — 90 XP
Senior Detective — 140 XP
Inspector — 200 XP
Chief Inspector — 300 XP
Legend — 450 XP

Your rank banner tracks progress to the next rank in real time.
The Daily Dossier

A fresh bite-size mystery lands every morning. Read the file, study the clues, and reveal the answer to bank that day's streak. Rules:

Dossier rules
  1. One per day. Revealing the answer banks one streak day and +5 XP. Opening it twice in one day changes nothing.
  2. Consecutive days only. Reveal day after day and the streak grows. Skip a day and it resets to 1 — the file waits for no one.
  3. Milestones. 7 days earns Week on the beat, 14 days earns Fortnight file, 30 days earns Month of nights.
  4. The 30-file rotation, disclosed. The daily file is drawn from a fixed 30-file library in rotation — after day 30 the cycle repeats, so a case you've already solved may come back around. Today's pick is today's pick; the archive holds the recent past.
The archive

The archive keeps the last 14 days of dossiers, for reading and catching up. The rule is strict and public: revealing an archive file banks no streak and no XP — it's for the love of the game, not the record. Only today's dossier keeps your streak alive.

Your progress stays yours

Everything you do here is stored in this browser only — no accounts, no email, nothing leaves your device. There is no leaderboard, and we never invent other players' scores. Your detective profile is read straight from your own local storage.

Shareable result cards

Every verdict screen includes a one-tap result card — your score, the case name, and a verdict line you can paste anywhere. Your detective profile has a full record card too: rank, XP, cases closed, and streak.

New cases

New full cases are added periodically. The Daily Dossier runs every day regardless — there's always a fresh file to open.
